empirica's services on the future of work

empirica offers policy and management consulting services in the field of Teleworking – The Future of Work:

Process model for the development, implementation and evaluation of measures for active ageing at work

The Active@Work process model divides the promoting of active ageing at work into clear phases and activities in order to help planning and implementing improvements in working conditions. It provides practical tools and examples for development, implementation and evaluation of measures for active ageing at work and can be visited and used here.

Employment models for an ageing and older workforce

empirica is active in the development and implementation of innovative models for the employment of ageing and older workers nationally as well as internationally. Customers where successful implementations could be achieved include corporations like SAP, Deutsche Bank and the Continentale health insurance company.

Economic Feasibility Studies

While the introduction of teleworking generates costs, these are off-set by corresponding quantifiable uses. When compared to normal office work additional costs are generated by installation of the necessary technology, running telecommunications costs and the costs for prepration and implementation, including training. On the "use-side", however, factors such as increases in productivity, drops in absenteeism, and the frequent savings in office space, technology and furniture have also been recorded. empirica has a Cost-Benefit Tool, which takes all the above parameters into account.

SAT – Sustainability Assessment Tool

The SUSTEL project (www.sustel.org) has developed a software tool for assessing the economic, ecological and social sustainability of teleworking. Company decision-makers and project leaders thus have the opportunity to assess the long-term viability of their telecommuting project. The tool helps to achieve goals and refers the user to best-practice examples which show what action successful teleworking leaders took in the past.

Benchmarking Studies

In spite of their growing importance for the working environment and the general interest in information of this sort, official statistics on telecommuting and other new forms of work are extremely scanty. empirica fills this gap by performing representative European-wide surveys of companies and populations. The SIBIS survey (www.sibis-eu.org) now makes comparative statistics on the spread of new forms of work available on an international basis.

The Teleworking Consulting Package

empirica has many years of experience in and comprehensive knowledge in the practice of teleworking. Based on this know-how it developed a standardised package to assist the introduction of teleworking, which has already been used successfully in numerous user-companies.
