New empirica-led Coordination & Support Action for advancing the Digital Transformation of Health and Care

The beginning of 2019 marked the start of DigitalHealthEurope: Support to a Digital Health and Care Innovation initiative in the context of the Digital Single Market strategy. The project will be carried out over two years by a 17-member consortium led by empirica, with contributions from more than 50 associated experts.

DigitalHealthEurope aims to deliver an actionable strategic vision and recommendations for EU policy on the digital transformation of health and care beyond 2020.

To achieve this goal, the project will facilitate the creation of multi-stakeholder collaborative platforms directly reflecting the three priorities set by the European Commission’s Communication for the transformation of health and care in the Digital Single Market, 25 April 2018:

  • citizens’ secure access to and sharing of health data across borders
  • better data to advance research, disease prevention and personalised health and care
  • digital tools for citizen empowerment and person-centred care.

The collaborative work will unify stakeholders’ strategic agendas and boost their commitment to innovative action advancing the priority topics.

A strong focus will be placed on supporting large-scale deployment of digital solutions for person-centred integrated care by identifying, analysing, and facilitating the replication of highly impactful best practices, utilising the consortium’s exceptional expertise on knowledge management and impact assessment (EIP on AHA repository of innovative practices, MAFEIP), twinning schemes, and mobilisation of stakeholders. empirica will oversee the launch of a new call for twinnings as well as the evaluation of applications. The scheme will cover topics which directly address the three DSM priorities.
