Self-care is increasingly seen by patients, government, and healthcare providers as a way of helping to manage the rising tide of long-term chronic conditions, and is expected to improve both health outcomes and patient satisfaction. eHealth technologies have the potential to play a key role in self care, and TeleMed & eHealth 2007 will explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding their introduction. Key issues for the conference are expected to

  • The state of evidence base on the potential effectiveness of these technolgies

  • Their ease of use

  • How they can be integrated into mainstream care services

  • The financial implications of their adoption

One of the KEYNOTE LECTURES will be Dr Karl A Stroetmann, Senior Research Associate with empirica Communication & Technology Research, who will speak on the vision of a future citizen­centred health care system.
He will also introduce the Evening debate on "This house believes that the contribution of eHealth is critical to the success of self care programmes"
