Workshop "The Contribution of ICTs to Equal Opportunities and Work-Life-Balance of Informal Carers for Older People"

A one day workshop organised by the eInclusion@EU project with support of the European Commission on 30 November 2006 in Brussels, Belgium More than 40 stakeholders came together to help making an appraisal of the contribution ICTs can make to overcome restrictions faced by informal carers for older people and create new occupational opportunities through improved work-life balance. The introductory session in the morning was dedicated to the expected future changes and challenges of informal care for older people in Europe and explored concrete problems and needs of informal carers and the opportunities ICTs provide to improve the situation of informal carers. A subsequent session focused on presenting and discussing concrete practice examples. The interactive discussions and the roundtable in the afternoon helped concretising policy proposals on how ICTs can help to overcome restrictions faced by informal carers for older people and create new occupational opportunities through improved work-life balance.
